'Emerging Grooves: The Bay of Islands College Jazz Ensemble'.
The modern funk-&-Latin-flavoured bebop of Kerikeri's 'Thelonious Punk' informs the spirit of this exciting BOI College band, as T-Punk's guitarist Aaron Wright is Head of Music there and has guided his young musicians in their journey toward developing a genuine jazz feel and sound. They premiered at the recent BOI Jazz & Blues Festival in Paihia & Russell, as well as joining 'Thelonious Punk' for the inaugural session of the Kerikeri Jazz Club @ Bishops Wood this month.
When the midday lunchtime hooter sounds switch the screensaver on, grab a bite to eat, switch the cell phone off and head on down to the Turner Centre’s Fortnightly Friday Midday Music treat.
