Finding Murdoch is an engrossing, funny and moving account of the most notorious incident in All Black history. The triumphant and tragic true story of Keith Murdoch, the only man to be expelled from the All Blacks, is brought to life on stage in Auckland during the Rugby World Cup.
The 1972 after scoring the winning try in a test match against Wales, Keith Murdoch hit a Welsh security guard at an after-match function. On the way from the UK, Murdoch disappeared into outback Australia and shunned friends, family and team mates. His refusal to come home and talk about the incident elevated his story to the level of legend.
This humorous, lively play draws on the historic rivalry between the All Blacks and British rugby teams and examines the right to privacy and the role of the media in elevating sportsmen to heroes and villains.
