Lecture by Lloyd Jenkins & Lucy Hammonds.
Douglas Lloyd Jenkins, co-author with Claire Regnault and Lucy Hammonds of The Dress Circle: New Zealand Fashion Design Since 1940, spent over three years tracking down overlooked early fashion pioneers and heroes. They discovered a treasure-trove of fabulous frocks, coats, ball-gowns and bijou pieces giving lie to the notion that we are a nation of bad dressers.
Douglas Lloyd Jenkins is director of Hawke’s Bay Museum and Art Gallery and one of New Zealand’s best known commentators and writers on our design history. Lucy Hammonds also works at Hawke’s Bay Museum where she is curator of Design Collections.
Admission to this event is included with entry to the museum.
