Audition for Lost in Yonkers

It is 1942. Reluctantly, a widower has to leave his two young teenage sons with his cold, humourless mother. In the ensuing months they meet members of the family, a simple daughter also living under “Grandma’s” thumb, an uncle who seems to be involved with the mob, and an aunt who has a most peculiar speech impediment.

Every role, every line, shines with Simon’s wit interlaced with his uncanny ability to present real people in all their strengths and weaknesses. As the play is set in New York, a light American accent is required, except for Grandma, who has retained her German/Jew speech.
