The Northcote Town Centre celebrates the Chinese & Korean New Year (‘Year of the Rabbit’) with a free family celebration. This event has become a much anticipated event over the past decade, providing a taste of Asian culture and a wide range of Asian entertainment and activities.
Northcote’s Chinese & Korean New Year Festival features vibrant cultural performances, free children’s activities, and array of Asian cuisine.
It is a free community event of colour, culture and cuisine. A large stage will be set-up for the festival near the centre’s town square for cultural performances and martial arts demonstrations. Performances will range from music and martial arts to song and dance, and are from a variety of cultures including Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean and Japanese.
The event also features authentic Asian food stalls, an art exhibition, a host of free children’s entertainment, and special activities such as traditional Chinese fortune telling.
