Brittany Kusserow grew up in Indiana, although she was born in Minnesota and adopts a Northern Grandma accent from time to time to for entertainment purposes. She moved to Auckland, New Zealand in June of 2008 to be with her spouse who is a bona fide kiwi gal.
Britt's music could be considered indiefolk (as it is both indie... and folk) and she finds herself quite often emulating artists that have inspired her, such as David Wilcox, Dar Williams, and the Indigo Girls. She tries to maintain her own "voice," however, and focuses most of her energy on the original lyrical content of each song she writes.
Her favourite tracks are "Last Rays," "Once You Said," and "Winter Tide" because she can remember exactly where she was and what she was feeling while writing them. Her most recent release is "Living On The Line" a song about merging past and present to make future.
Historically, Kusserow has done what she considers her "best" writing in a badly-lit, cold, dormitory stairwell (said stairwell makes a cameo in "Living On The Line"), which is troubling because she graduated from university in 2008.
Satan's Little Sister

In the immortal words of the Gerry Anderson's Terrahawks "expect the unexpected". At least that's how Satan's Little Sister view their own shows. The first time I saw this band play was in January this year and needless to say they impressed on so many levels. The first thing that lead me to believe magic was in the air was when two guys came up to me and my girlfriend and started giving her a plastic rose.
I later found out that they were trying to pick up girls and they thought if they hedged their bets and gave every woman in the place flowers they might win.
So cutting to a couple of hours later and by the looks of things plenty more booze Satan's Little Sister took the stage (or floor if you've seen them live before) The set was really cool. They way they deconstruct rocknroll is pretty original. all those two piece White Stripes rip off bands lets just strip it back to guitar and drums. Satan's Little Sister don't sing. I don't think its because they can't its more to do with they don't feel the need to. There was a lot of beer wasted that night. The puddle of the stuff on the floor around them attested to that and by the end of the set Deniel had completely trashed his drumkit. There was broken bits of drum stand flying in all directions. So there's been rumours of this band being insane or disrespectful of things that should be held above as something to be worshipped. I think if you go see them you'll understand whats really going on. A complete dedication to their craft. Sometimes %100 is just too powerful to be contained within social convention. Which according to the band can lead to trouble. Broken promises, damaged band gear and the often experienced getting thrown out of bars. At the end of the day Satan's Little Sister may not be the best musicians in the world but I don't believe that ever been the point of music. Its about feeling. These guys will show you a good time maybe buy you a beer and then go on to assault your ears until they are told to stop. When they are playing its like there's no one else in the room and time has stopped they are playing for the love of it not to impress anyone. A band true to themselves and nothing else. Go and see them. Buy one of their albums. Disappointment not included.
