Did you know that belly dancing is a great exercise for pregnancy? Mainly due to its focus on the belly and hips, belly dancing is a great way to prepare yourself for birth giving and keep yourself fit throughout your pregnancy.
As a pre-natal exercise, belly dancing in its gentler forms is strengthening for the pelvic muscles and relaxing for the mother-to-be. Not only that it connects mother to the unborn child through a series of movements which focus her attention on her belly.
Some doctors encourage the practice of belly dance during pregnancy, which they think provides the following benefits:
• Strengthening pelvic and deep abdominal muscles and all those muscles specifically used for giving birth, thus facilitating the process of delivering and of recovery.
• Relaxing the body.
• Improving self esteem.
• Promote good posture.
• Help maintain general fitness.
• Help maintain a good sense of balance.
• Relieve back ache.
• Promote socialisation, if performed in classes.
Got you interested? Join our 8 week belly dance for pregnancy course with Julia Garcia, who has over 10 years belly dance experience and who’s recently become pregnant herself. So she is not only experienced, but also in the same boat as you are right now.
