Join us to celebrate New Zealand's national day.
Starting at 4pm on Saturday afternoon, the day before New Zealand's national day, the celebration will feature: A water pageant, 3rd annual waka ama sprint races will feature teams from throughout Hawke's Bay, Tararua and Wairarapa. Free rides available to the public on the majestic Nga Tukemata o Kahungunu 17m waka.
The evening will end with a ceremony of fire sculptures in the water and the floating of lanterns for loved ones, a moving and poignant occasion on the eve of our national holiday.
Free parking. Arrive early to avoid parking delays. Dress warm with walking shoes. Picnics and folding chairs welcome. On site toilets. Variety of ethnic and Kiwi food available.
