Coming off the success of her Auckland and Wellington release shows for her "The Red" EP late 2010, songbird Plum Green has announced another series of dates - including debuts in Christchurch and Dunedin and an encore performance at Auckland's Wine Cellar at the start of the Auckland Fringe Festival 2011.

The Legend of Plum Green is that she is the descendant of Soviet royalty, the bastard child of a disgraced monarch who sent her away from Eastern Europe as a child. But truth be told, she was born in an East London squat her parents had broken into.

The daughter of a jazz singing Parisian show girl and a saxophone playing Jewish intellectual, Plum Green’s music is enigmatic and deep. Her mixture of acoustic folk and grunge has made an impact and secured a loyal following. Plum Green has always had this mix of youthful wisdom, naive worldliness, a corrupt innocent, which makes her music and lyrics heady and intriguing.

The Red, Plum's sophomore release, takes its title from her song “The Red of Infection”, alluding to the beautiful part of something polluted or rotten, maps out not only Plum's intentions leading into a future full length release, but a great number of hurts that are healed (or healing). In due course, The Red may not atone for all the misanthropy that Plum has exuded in her life, but acts as a form of redemption not only for herself, but for those that find solace in her music. “I sing about pain, about life and tell stories [...] and people tell me I helped, and that is the most important thing of all” Plum admits.

With support from Marcus Tuwairua, Hana Fahy and Jo Little.
