The line-up for Toi o Manukau’s annual Waitangi Day Family Celebrations has been announced.
Hawaii-based artist Fiji joins some of New Zealand’s top reggae, roots, funk and soul acts, including Sola Rosa, Sweet & Irie, Three Houses Down, Adeaze and Ria Hall.
Toi o Manukau Kaiwhakahaere Nigel Borell says that he is excited to present the schedule to the local community. “We’ve managed to secure some of the most dynamic performing artists in Aotearoa and the Pacific for Waitangi Day. Our celebrations will again be a great way for our community to commemorate our national day.”
The 2011 programme also features a mihi whakatau (ceremonial welcome), tiriti korero (Treaty education and debate), nga toi (arts area), a tamariki zone with free children’s rides and activities.
The event, which is being held for the second year at Barry Curtis Park in Flat Bush, is the Auckland region’s largest Waitangi Day celebration with over 40,000 attendees each year.
Toi o Manukau’s Waitangi Day Family Celebrations are supported by Auckland Council, the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and Mai FM.
