Our new exhibition, Children of Tangaroa - Marine Mammals of Aotearoa explores the stories of New Zealand's threatened marine mammals. Learn about the effects of whaling and Maori myths and legends surrounding each species.

New Zealand’s waters are home to some of the rarest and most endangered marine mammals on the planet, and we can all have a hand in helping to protect and revive these magnificent creatures.

Voyager’s new exhibition ‘Children of Tangaroa - Marine Mammals of Aotearoa’ explores the stories of these unique whale and dolphin species. The exhibition recounts Maori mythology relating to the relationship between marine mammals and tangata whenua.

The exhibition also discusses changing attitudes towards commercial whaling, highlighting its impact on species groups, as well as focusing on actions we can all take to help preserve these magnificent creatures.

A Seaweek event.
