Free walks as part of the Auckland Heritage Festival 2011.
Geologist Dr. Bruce Hayward will lead adventurers on a walk around Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill, one of the largest and best preserved cones in the Auckland volcanic field. Learn how volcanoes have shaped the landscape and the lives of people in the region. Walk available on a Saturday and a Wednesday. Bring the whole family for this informative and fun walk.
Bruce Hayward is a co-author with Graeme Murdoch and Gordon Maitland of the recently published book - Volcanoes of Auckland, The Essential Guide, Auckland University Press.
