Join us for a celebration of Canada’s culture, music, history, geography, and people - a not-to-be-missed opportunity to get to know this bilingual and multicultural nation.

Photography exhibition - 10am-6pm:
In association with the High Commission of Canada, Te Papa showcases The Accessible Arctic. This beautiful exhibition features breathtaking images of Canada’s Arctic, as featured in Canadian Geographic magazine. Wellington Foyer, Level 2.

Film Screenings - 11am-5pm:
Experience Canada’s geography, history, and culture through a variety of Canadian films and documentaries. They’re screening throughout the day in Soundings Theatre. Take a bird’s eye view with Over Canada: An Aerial Adventure, or perhaps you’d rather follow a team of eight hikers as they confront blizzards, labyrinths of crushed sea ice, and near-impassable glaciers through Canada’s Arctic. There’s something for everyone - and nothing to stop you watching it all! Soundings Theatre, Level 2.

Bonnie Riley - 10:30am-11am or 1:30pm-2pm:
Hear Bonnie Riley, a songbird from Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island. She’s lived in New Zealand for 10 years, and performed as a singer and musician for twice as long.

She regularly appears in and around Wellington with her jazz trio, Blackbird. Much of her material is original, but she also offers unique takes on popular songs. As part of Te Papa's Canada Day event, she’ll perform a selection of distinctly Canadian songs - in between bursts of her characteristic banter! Level 4 Espresso.

String Trio - 12-12:45pm:
Join French Canadian violinist Pascale Parenteau, New Zealand favourite Elena (violin), and Margaret Guldborg (cello). The string trio will present a delightful Canadian-based musical programme suitable for all ages, but especially for the young at heart! You’ll hear popular classics, new treasures, and plenty of anecdotes! Level 4 Espresso.
