Blackheart's Miracle Tour

Blackheart returns to Waiheke! Enjoy an evening with the new stars of British contemporary folk. Blackheart are the urban folk duo featuring the distinctively expressive vocals of Chrissy Mostyn and the imaginative and inspired guitar playing of Rick Pilkington. Together they defy categorisation, but rather create a unique blend of intelligent acoustic rock pop that belongs to them alone. They create songs with piercingly sharp observations, beautifully crafted lyrics and powerfully driven melodies that threaten never to leave you.

In their three short years together they have started to make waves throughout the world with their songs used on major TV commercials and 2011 seeing their much anticipated return to Australasia, along with an extensive UK tour to promote the release of their third studio album 'Songs from a Satellite' coming later in the year.

Combining the sound of traditional acoustic folk instruments with a totally modern approach to their songwriting, they have a unique style of beautifully crafted, instantly memorable songs, which take their audiences on an emotional roller-coaster ride from sadness and sensitivity to the most energetic rocking folk that has audiences on their feet. Their sound features the lemon and honey voice of Chrissy Mostyn and the jaw-dropping acoustic guitar and mandola playing of Rick Pilkington. The songs they write are personal true stories about everything from hometowns and homelessness to faith and bereavement, and they tell fascinating, sometimes hilarious and sometimes very moving stories about the songs, how they were written and also about their unusual musical life on the road.

Doors and café will open at 7pm, with local musician Sol Harris at 7:30 and Blackheart on stage about 8pm.
Tickets are available at the Theatre's TimeOut Café (open 9-3 Mo-Sa) and are $20 prepaid or (if available) $25 at the door.
