The sound of the trio was born out of many years of playing jazz together in a more traditional style. Turning into a new direction, the Hoekstra Kime Hobson Trio explores the sense of space and harmonic symmetry that characterises European jazz. The trio’s sound is lyrical yet robust and immediately accessible through their commitment to the melodic line.
In their interpretations, original compositions and improvisation the trio pays tribute to the melodies and structures of classical, jazz, folk, gospel and Latin music.
The trio will be supported by guest artists: Sophie Buxton on viola and The Aeolus Sax Quartet.
