For a couple of hours allow yourself to escape the cold winter weather by going on a world tour with the Wellington Youth Choir. The Wellington Youth Choir will take you to Europe with renditions of Michael McGlynn’s Lux Aeterna/Rite of Passage and Schumman’s Zigeunerleben. The choir turns up the heat with Lily Boulanger’s Hymne au Soleil and Sperry’s arrangement of a traditional Indian Desh. An exotic flavour is added to the programme with two serenades from South America and a traditional Creole song from New Orleans.
Wellington Youth Choir is proud to host the concert with Wellington Girls’ College Choir, who successfully achieved a spot in the Big Sing Final 2011. The Wellington Youth Choir is an auditioned group of singers aged 18-25, based in Wellington. The choir is made up predominantly of university students and young professionals, and rehearse once a week on a Tuesday evening. This year the choir will be directed by Katie Macfarlane.
Tickets are available on the door. For more information contact Choir Administrator at wellingtonyouthchoir@gmail.com or 0210376385.
