Makeshift Living is an installation by Vanessa Crowe that ‘wallpapers’ Toi Pōneke Gallery with hundreds of photos, piecing together a 1:1 scale photo-collage of the artist’s living room. In a kaleidoscope of detail, images of forgotten toys, dusty corners and renovations present the order and chaos of everyday life.

The living room images wrap around the gallery’s floating walls, pillars and concealed spaces bringing to attention the architecture of Toi Pōneke Gallery and the awkwardness of making ‘home’ in an unfamiliar space.
