From an initial 236 secondary school choirs throughout NZ, 22 have been selected to come to Wellington for the national finale. One of New Zealand Choral Federation's flagship events, The Big Sing Regional Festivals this year attracted a record 8500 students.
This year the national finale was to have been held in the Christchurch Town Hall, but after the February earthquake it was relocated to the Wellington Town Hall.
The finale adjudicator panel will be Paul Holley (Brisbane), Karen Grylls and Andrew Withington. The eighteen national finale competing choirs (and the four choirs invited to participate in the Guest Choir Programme) can be found on our website: www.nzcf.org.nz.
Each choir performs 2 recital programs spread over the 3 days. On the final evening (6.30pm) there will be a gala concert in which each choir will sing an item, followed by a specially selected and rehearsed massed choir item.
Monday 22 August
Opening ceremony 12:30pm – free entry
Session 1 1:45-3:00pm – entry $5 programme
Session 2 4:30-5:45pm – entry $5 programme
Session 3 7:30-9:00pm – entry $15/$10 door sales
Tuesday 23 August
Session 4 10:45-11:45am (AK) - entry $5 programme
Session 5 2:00-3:15pm (AK)- entry $5 programme
Session 6 4:00-5:00pm - entry $5 programme
Session 7 6:30-8:00pm - entry $15/$10 door sales
Wednesday 24 August
Session 8 10:45-12:00pm – entry $5 programme
Gala concert 6:30-9:30pm – tickets $25/15, (plus fees) from Ticketek.
