Nelson Provincial Museum has a display that includes historic images from their own collection, over a hundred images 'capturing the All Blacks' from 1949 to 2004 and images of local rugby at club level at all grades from Rippa Rugby to the Tasman Makos.

Nelson is the birthplace of rugby and this is explained as part of a historic display. A re-enactment of the first ever game played on 14 May 1870 will take place on the same ground on 20 September 2011 at 1pm. This will be the curtain-raiser for the Italy-Russia game later in the day.
