Monterey Art presents new works by Megan Daniels and Dalene Meiring.
Dalene Meiring moved with her family to New Zealand in 1997. She achieved some sell-out exhibitions and has gained a reputation internationally as well as within New Zealand, showing her work both solo and at group exhibitions. She also features in the “New Zealand Favourite Artists” Volume 2.
Dalene’s canvases have been described as being rich, warm and easy on the eye. They are vivid in colour, harmonious in form and express a rarely-found vitality. She has three main styles: landscapes, faces and abstracts.
Megan Daniels studied Fine Art at Natal Technikon in Durban, where she majored in painting and ceramics.
New Zealand’s stunning landscapes instantly attracted me. Coming from a country as vast as South Africa I found there was a softness and closeness here that I had not found in my homeland. Plants and flowers both native to New Zealand and exotic are depicted in my paintings and I intentionally place them close in the foreground to enhance the perspective. I like the feeling of being low and immersed within the landscape, some say a ‘child like’ perspective, with a strong sense movement.
