Dan Smart recently finished his PhD at the Auckland University of Technology and is an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the New Zealand Academy of Sport. Dan will be speaking about the modern rugby player as a highly trained athlete, paying special attention to the high amounts of physical stress that their bodies experience on a weekly basis. He will share insight on the science behind the physical preparation, in-game responses and post-game recovery techniques used by Rugby Union players in order to reduce the risk of injury and to maintain a successful performance.
