We don’t need to tell you about the troubles teenagers have with drugs and alcohol - the media has already done that. This evening will give you an insight into a teenager’s world, break some myths and give you practical advice on parenting through these difficult years.
Dave has been involved in youth work for eight years, and during this time has spoken to thousands of young people at high schools, various youth events, on radio, at camps and at church services. Dave originally studied graphic design. However, four years ago he left the keyboard and mouse behind to pursue a career in the area of his real passion - working with young people. He has been working for Parents Inc. for over three years in its youth education division called Attitude. In this time, Dave has delivered over 800 presentations to more than 110,000 high school students, as well as various other events involving young people and their parents.
Bruce brings a synergy of personality and style in presenting valuable insights into parenting. As CEO of Parents Inc., he has heard many stories of the impact of drugs and alcohol on the youth of New Zealand. As a parent to teenagers he knows the reality of the pressures they are facing and the hard choices families are making to build strength and resilience in this around the teen culture.
Bruce and Dave complement each other with their own perspective, providing parents with a wide framework of strategies for their teenagers.
The cafe will be open from 6.30 pm.
