Footloose is based on the popular film from 1984. The story starts in Chicago where a group of young people have gathered at their favourite dance club to say goodbye to Ren McCormack. Ren and his mother are forced to move in with her sister's family in a small town nobody has ever heard of - Beaumont.
Ren is stunned to learn that dancing is not allowed anywhere in Beaumont. The story evolves predictably in a Fame/West Side story fashion. There is a music from Kenny Loggins, John Mellencamp, and others, with the theme song Footloose, Holding Out for a Hero and Let's Hear It For the Boy particularly memorable hits.
Footloose will showcase many of the talented young singers, dancers and musicians in Marlborough. Duncan Whiting's most recent Combined Colleges shows have been Buddy Holly and West Side Story. Once again he teams with Con O'Brien, Jeannie Marks and Ray Russell to provide an uplifting, topical, entertaining show that should be on everyone's entertainment calendar for August.
