Priceless is an exhibition of video, sculpture, installation and sound works by Alex Chalmers, Moana Warwood and Rik Wilson, three exciting, young, Auckland based artists.
Their works examine ideas surrounding everyday encounters and non-traditional art materials. In effect is their ability to turn ordinary objects, materials and experiences into extraordinary encounters.
Priceless speaks about chance encounters, material cleverness and intellectual resourcefulness through acts of ingenuity.
The notion of value is examined through the deep seeded psychology, in which individual’s value ordinary objects and materials. Yet to move ordinary to extraordinary, there has to be value beyond what is normally expected.
The exhibition employs acts of assemblage, construction, intervention, documentation through moving image and sculpture.
Priceless is thought provoking exhibition that will engage a broad range of viewers due to the works diversity in mediums, approaches to work and the examination of the common human condition.
