Twenty Rippa Rugby teams from all over New Zealand will vie for the inaugural Rippa World Cup at North Harbour Stadium, one month before RWC 2011 kicks off.

The qualifying teams from all around New Zealand will be hosted in the Auckland area for a two-day Rippa Rugby tournament — this will be a once-in-a-lifetime event for the year 6 primary school children.

Twenty teams of ten (5 boys, 5 girls) will represent their area as a nation playing in Rugby World Cup 2011. The matches will follow the Rugby world Cup 2011 draw.

Rippa Rugby is a non-contact version of the sport designed especially for younger, primary-school aged children. Rather than tackling each other, players must rip the flag from the belt of the ball carrier. Rippa Rugby promotes ball handling and running skills and gives kids a chance to safely participate in our national game from a very early age.

You might just witness a future All Black legend's first try!

The 2011 Rippa World Cup is a part of the REAL New Zealand Festival – the biggest nationwide festival the country has ever seen.

In September and October 2011, the REAL New Zealand Festival will take place across the length and breadth of the country. It will include hundreds of events and experiences that will celebrate New Zealand’s arts, food and wine, heritage, culture, entertainment, industries and business, experiences, sports and lifestyle.
