The Elios Ensemble is a fluid group of musicians based around members of the Elios String Quartet and guest artists.
In this Friday lunchtime concert Karen Batten, Martin and Victoria Jaenecke will perform a varied programme including a selection from folk melodies by Bela Bartok (1881-1945), Kokopeli for Solo Flute by Katherine Hoover (1937-), Lachrymae for Soprano Saxophone and Viola by Tigran Mansurjan (1939-) and Serenade for Flute, Violin and Viola, Op 25 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827).This latter work is an interesting and attractive collection of contrasting movements that shows the composer's ‘lighter’ side.
