Bang Bang Eche:

Influenced by the likes of Death from Above 1979 and Daft Punk, New Zealand dance-punk outfit Bang Bang Eche have gained a reputation as one of the most energetic and often unpredictable live acts on their homeland's indie circuit. Formed in Christchurch in 2007, Bang Bang Eche - comprised of frontman Zach Doney, guitarist Charlie Ryder, bassist T'Nealle Worsley, and drummer James Sullivan - released their self-titled EP, a huge hit on U.S. college radio, the same year and followed it up in 2009 with the provocatively titled Sonic Death Cuntt. After extensively touring across the U.S. and Europe, they opened for Har Mar Superstar, performed at the SXSW and Big Day Out festivals, and signed a publishing deal with Native Tongue Music. In 2010, they were named as one of the 25 Best New Bands in the World by MTV and began work on their debut LP, while Doney released a self-funded solo album, Learning (Everything Has to End for Some Reason I Don't Believe It), under the guise of Teen Fortress. - Jon O'Brien

Pikachunes:

Hailing from Christchurch, now living in Auckland, Miles McDougall filters his childhood memories through a modern disco-pop lens with his laptop, drum machine and voice-driven solo project Pikachunes. Influenced by early electronica, video games, and skateboarding accidents.

“I grew up playing Pokemon with Charlie [Ryder] from Bang Bang Eche. We were in primary school together and I remember he handed me a [Nintendo] Gameboy with Pokemon Blue on it. It pretty much took off from there to be honest with you, and ever since then I’ve had this kind of childlike obsession with Pokemon.”
