Dream Walking with Gabrielle New (Melbourne).
This intensive will explore the surreal landscapes of our unconscious and use butoh dance theatre as a device to interpret the language of our dreams to create metaphoric movement explorations and a performance score.
The workshop will consist of 5 days (20th to 25th) of intensive butoh training and image work and will then spend the final 2 days (26th to 27th) developing and refining choreography and structured improvisation, concluding with a performance showing on the final night!
The workshop will be facilitated by Australian guest artist Gabrielle New who has worked with butoh practitioners around the world and has developed a style that has a strong focus on transformation, change and healing.
Gaby has over 20 years' experience as a therapist and group facilitator that underpins her teaching and is woven throughout her 13 year butoh practice. In 2010 she completed a Diploma of Theatre Arts, was a Directing Intern with Zen Zen Zo physical theatre and was a recipient of a Solo Residency at Victoria University (Melbourne) as well as creating Menagerie of Innocence, Emergence and choreographing and performing in The Rock.
Dream walking performance with Gaby and guests on the 26th is $15 (bookings essential). Time and venue TBA: Will be released on booking.
