Nigel Buxton grew up in Berkshire and trained at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London. He moved to New Zealand in 1981 and runs PaperGraphica studio in Christchurch. "Capriccios" means "flights of fancy" and the artist presents us with an exhibition in two parts. In the first are nine collaged images featuring life-sized models posed and costumed who occupy interiors, landscapes and stage-sets. In the second are ten digitally manipulated inkjet prints which also feature extravagantly costumed and posed characters but as Buxton states "they people a landscape we are all very familiar with".
