From this year on, the National Jazz Festival will be the home of the Tui Awards in the Best Jazz Album of the year category.

For fans of New Zealand jazz this means we can witness the very best of New Zealand’s jazz music for this year, right here on stage in Tauranga! An academy of judges evaluated entries from all around the country to decide on the winners.

This year’s three finalists are:
Reuben Bradley – ‘Resonator’ (Wellington);
Tessa Quayle – ‘Whisper Not’ (Wellington);
Sumo Jazz – ‘Throwing Salt’ (Christchurch).

All three artists will perform with their bands in this concert. This is the crème-de-la-creme line up of contemporary New Zealand jazz artists. Join us for this glamorous night of jazz. And at the end of the night, when we dim the lights and start the drum roll you will hear:

“The Tui Award for best Jazz Album of the year goes to…”
