The most prestigious biennial dance awards In Australasia. 260 stunning dancers meet in NZ to vie for over $125,000 cash & elite international scholarships commemorating the life of a promising 11 year old young dancer, Alana Haines.
Marking the 20th anniversary - $11.000 cash plus scholarship will be presented to the supreme winner. The dancers perform contemporary & classical solos from the professional repertoire in 3 age groups & 3 elimination rounds to a standard rarely seen at this level. The 4 day event culminates with the grand finals, followed by presentations & cocktail party on Sunday evening. Many past winners are now international stars in various dance companies around the world.
The general public are invited to view Australasia's top young dancers.
Thursday 21st
Seating 5.30pm – Movie 6pm – 8pm
Opening this event is a screening of the celebrated movie, ‘Mao’s Last Dancer’, sponsored by Auckland Council & is free of charge to the public. Your free ticket to the movie 'Mao's Last Dancer' can be picked up from the Ticketmaster box office at the Bruce Mason Centre from Thursday 7th April from 9.00am. Seats are allocated and limited so get in quick! Only 4 tickets can be picked up per person.
Friday 22nd
9am – 3.40pm – adjudicated classes all contestants (closed to public)
