Local young jazz musicians, the Scott Thomas Quartet, met in 2008 as students in the University of Auckland jazz course. Since then they have been playing together regularly both as a quartet and also in various other ensembles. The group presents varied repertoire with a high focus on arrangement, ranging from straight ahead standards to modern jazz material and also a number of original compositions. Making up the group are Scott Thomas on saxophone, Yuhan Wei on guitar, Sung Jin Hong on bass and Adam Tobeck on drums.
