Stunning Coromandel scenery rewards you on this longer walk up onto the plateau between the Maratoto and Wentworth valleys, then descend through beautiful bush and steep cuts into solid rock. Historic flavours abound as you follow the route of the original telegraph wires that ran from Auckland to Wellington. Follows a 4WD track, which can be slippery when wet, to the plateau above the Maratoto Valley then follows the historic telegraph wires track with steps that were cut into the rock for the horses, down the ridgeline through the beautiful bush and back down to farmland. There is one stream crossing and a short but steep detour to a waterfall for those who are confident enough. Bring lunch and good footwear.
