Smashfest has been so popular over the last few years the stadium has been packed to capacity and thousands without pre-paid tickets have been turned away at the gate on race day. We’re over having to deny anyone a piece of the action. So, for the first time ever we’re holding two different shows over two nights!
These two nights of fender-bending spectacular action include so much adrenalin-packed metal crunching carnage both spectators and participants won’t want to blink. This Easter bring your family and friends to watch the pure unadulterated fun; or drive in the Smashfest bash for cash and be the last car moving to win $10,000!
Here’s a sneak peak at the awesome action you can expect on one of the nights:
Demolition derby - Join in the carnage, or sit back and watch as participants attempt to better the world record for the 4th year out of 5.
Monster truck - NZ's favourite monster truck, 1500hp of car jumping madness.
Kidsfest trolley derby – Get your driver & 3 pushers (10 or under, primary school only) together & build your trolley. 50 cart limit. Some great bonding time with your kids or nieces & nephews. NB: racing is on Friday night only.
Fireworks and pyrotechnics - Our legendary fireworks are the talk of the town and this year we’re going even bigger! Consider the anti upped. Consider the stakes raised. Consider the budget blown! We are here to achieve the wow factor so don’t miss it.
Clowns and candy - You have to love the funny mayhem-makers, especially when they’re loaded with 100kg of lollies to scramble. (Sugar free - not!)
Other attractions on the night:
Stunts by Stuntcorp – Remember last year’s epic bus stunt? Expect more death defying stunt-madness this year.
The Executioner – There is no judge or jury, the Executioner's decision is final. Step out of line and this purpose-built V8 steel fortress will destroy your car & burn some rubber.
World Smashfest Streetstock Streetwars - These experienced ‘Streeties’ are here to win, no prizes for 2nd place.
Gauntlet teams racing - Sprapper vs Scrapper – Pitting company against company, only one car can win this race.
Outlaw V8 burnout comp - Biggest, badest cars (only the best) out there, including The Executioner Death Race car, Camaro, Pontiac, Mopar & many more.
Fire dancers – These people are crazy, stand 'way' back & enjoy.
After party in the club rooms – Enjoy a couple of beverages and talk about the spectacular action. More to be confirmed...
Keen to give driving a go?
Because of Smashfest's past success - not to mention the $10 000 prize money - we're getting interest from as far as Australia & the UK to participate. You don't need any race experience to give it a go. See Rules & Specs for all the details on how to get ready and get involved!
Drivers!
A $40 24 hour race license fee is charged by Speedway NZ. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable unless you already hold a SNZ race license. If you wish to Jalopy race on the main night only (Sat 23rd April), your total fee is $80 (this includes 2 x nights race license, 1 x Smashfest T-shirt & your 1 night park entry). If you wish to Jalopy race on both nights (Fri & Sat, 22nd & 23rd April), you total fee is $120 (this includes 2 x nights race license, 1 x Smashfest T-shirt & your 2 night park entry).
