The Oxo Cubans & Neville Copland

The iconic Dunedin band “The Oxo Cubans” will make their first appearance at Oamaru’s legendary Penguin Club.

During their diverse careers, Craig Reeves, Doug Wright & Marcel Rodeka have shared the stage with a variety of national and international performers including Queen, The Bellamy Brothers, Tom T Hall, Johnny Ray, Max Merritt, Rob Guest, Brian Cadd, Ricky Scaggs, Jimmy Barnes, Joan Armatrading, Mother Goose, Emmy Lou Harris, The Dave Hole Blues Band, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tammy Wynette, The Flying Burrito Brothers and Sir Bob Geldof.

Fresh from another sold out “Oxo Cubans Big Night Out” at Dunedin’s Mayfair Theatre, the Oxos will be in Oamaru performing tracks from their current CD “Live at Isis”, recorded at their Dunedin resident venue.

“It will be great to take the Isis vibe to a new venue” says Oxo drummer Marcel Rodeka. “We are playing a number of regional theatres and venues throughout the year and the Penguin Club is the first on the list. The big band version of the Oxo's have of course travelled all over NZ but this Isis style lineup is something we're keen to tour as well”.

Joining the Oxos at the Penguin Club is multiple award winning television & film composer keyboardist Nev "The Rev" Copland.
