"The eyes indicate the antiquity of the soul" - Ralph Emerson

Opening April 28 at 6:30pm with complimentary food and drink.

A portrait radiates with a deep and enigmatic sense of spirit. It is a sentient creation that reflects life's journey and echoes the inner soul. When we study its gaze, we are absorbed not only by aesthetic beauty but by the subliminal connection that forms between us and the image. What we have unearthed is something deep that runs below the surface.

Trailgazers is a premiere showcase of graphite portraits by Howick artist Kristy Griggs. Her use of pencil technique and compositional style serves to unveil the intrepid spirit of some of today's most notable social pioneers. Today's groundbreakers and trailblazers.

In conjunction with Trailgazers, Kristy will be holding a two-day workshop at Uxbridge where she will explore practical techniques for drawing portraits, figures, landscapes and still-lifes. The workshop will run on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 of June, 2011, from 10am – 3pm. Registrations can be made through Uxbridge Creative Centre.

For more information on Trailgazers or the workshop, contact Uxbridge: (09) 535 6467 or info@uxbridge.org.nz
