Course: We offer an interesting, picturesque measured and certified course of 21.1km, starting and finishing at the Havelock North Rugby Clubrooms at Anderson Park on Te Aute Rd with the half marathon winding its way out into the country and back.
There are no road closures and normal road rules apply at all times. Participants are also reminded to walk/run no more than two abreast and walk/run inside the marker cones at all times for safety reasons. The 21.1km course will be unmarked and unmarshalled after 11.30am.
10km fun run/walk: There will be no place prizes except for the first in each event. However, each entrant will be eligible for spot prizes.
Entries: Entries close on 10 April 2011. Cheques should be made payable to Run Walk Hawke’s Bay. Photocopies of the entry form will be accepted. Entries will also be accepted on line at www.runwalkhb.org.nz
Late entries: Half marathon entries dated after 10 April 2011 will be subject to an additional admin fee of $10.00. Late entries accepted on 16 April from 2.30pm and 17 April from 6:30am.
Refunds: Refund of entry fee (less a handling fee of $10) will be made on withdrawals notified up to 10 April 2011. No refunds will be made after this date.
Race packs: The race packs will be available for collection from the Race Headquarters:
Saturday 16 April 2011 from 2.30pm–6.00pm Havelock North Domain Pavilion (behind the Village Pool), or Sunday 17 April 2011 (race day) from 6.30am at Anderson Park, Te Aute Rd, Havelock North.
Race numbers: Must be worn on the front of the participant’s T-shirt or singlet and be visible at all times. Electronic timing tags will be given out with the race number. These are attached to your running shoe and must be returned at the finish area - $50.00 penalty fee will apply if tags not returned.
Start: The start is from the car park at Anderson Park off Te Aute Road with half marathon walkers commencing at 7.30am, half marathon runners 8.30am and 10k run/walk 9.00am. There will be a compulsory race briefing at the Park entrance 10 minutes prior to each start time. There is then a 200m walk to the start line on Te Aute Road.
Drink stations: There will be manned water stations around the half marathon course. Individual drinks will not be catered for.
Half marathon walk: This is for walkers only. If you intend to walk and run the event please enter as a runner. All forms of walking are permitted including recreational and power walking. However, those with a style that resembles jogging will be ‘promoted’ to the running section and will be eligible for spot prizes only. Nordic walking is not permitted.
10km event: Any form of walking/running is permitted. However, in the interest of safety bicycles, in-line skates and skateboards are not permitted. Wheelchairs or pushchairs may be used at your own risk. Competitors must stay to the right hand side unless instructed by an official. There are no road closures and normal road rules apply at all times. Results: All race results will be posted on our website where certificates can be printed if required.
Event shirts: Quality quick dry T-shirts are available for purchase. These must be ordered before 3 April 2011 and collected at registration. If entering on line T-shirt orders will be accepted up to 10 April 2011.
Prize giving: This will take place in the Havelock North Rugby Clubrooms beginning at approx. 11.30am. Place prizes will be awarded in each category in the half marathon only pro rata the number of entries. All finishers of the half marathon and 10km events will be eligible for spot prizes. You must be present to claim your spot prize. Minor spot prizes will be pre-drawn and available for collection in the finish area prior to prize giving.
