The Eastern Field Day has grown out of the Small Block Fielday which for many years was managed by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council and held at Showgrounds Hawke’s Bay in Waikoko Gardens. The Society took over the management of this event in 2010.

Realising the opportunity and a need for the Eastern region to have; its own showcase for innovation, a voice on issues surrounding sustainable land use and a stage to bring all this together the Society is shifting the focus of the field day to one encompassing all land based production systems.

To provide clarity for exhibitors, attendees and media the Field Day will be themed each year to provide a focus on an issue of significant importance to the primary sector in the Eastern region.

For 2011 the theme will be: ‘Water – the new oil’.

The event will feature exhibitors and a seminar series spanning all facets linked to this lifeblood of our primary sector including equipment suppliers, advisory services, conservation, quality and regulation, the event is aimed at the agriculture, viticulture and horticulture market.

To meet the needs and service requirements the Field Day will be housed within the showgrounds' secure area utilising the exhibition hall, grandstand, outdoor exhibition and demonstration areas plus a dedicated seminar room in the grandstand.

This event will join a stable of events that the Society runs as a non-profit organisation to advance its goal of promoting excellence in primary production and agribusiness for the benefit of all.
