The Opus Orchestra will open their 2011 concert series under their Music Director Peter Walls. They will present two concertos with pairs of soloists and two other works - ‘Two by Two’.
Viola player and Assistant Concertmaster of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Lyndon Johnston Taylor, will be partnered by Opus’s own Concertmaster, violinist Lara Hall, in Mozart’s ‘Sinfonia Concertante’. Lyndon Johnston Taylor will also appear with Opus’s Principal Clarinet, Ashley Hopkins, in Bruch’s Concerto for Viola and Clarinet.
The appealing programme includes two of the most popular works in the orchestral repertoire, Schubert’s ‘Unfinished Symphony’, and the Mozart’s overture to the ‘Magic Flute’.
