Curator and esteemed writer Dr Peter Simpson will discuss the art of John Pule. Dr Simpson is Director of The Holloway Press at the University of Auckland and has a keen interest in New Zealand literature, visual culture and cultural history. He has recently published ‘Fantastica: The World of Leo Bensemann’ (Auckland University Press) and co-curated (with Dunedin’s Noel Waite) Leo Bensemann: A Fantastic Art Venture which is currently showing at the Christchurch Art Gallery. Dr Simpson’s talk is in association with the exhibition John Pule: Hauaga (Arrivals) and presented with the support of City Gallery, Wellington and Creative New Zealand.
