Sexy, astonishing and very, very funny. It's The Butler.
Written by renowned author and columnist Joe Bennett and directed by Mike Friend, The Butler is like nothing you have ever seen before. Critics have called it 'Cirque du Soleil for adults' and 'Pinter on stilts' but The Butler is what The Butler is - the must-see show of 2011. Performed by the actors and acrobats of the Loons Circus Theatre Company, The Butler has drawn sell-out audiences and rave reviews in venues throughout New Zealand and toured to London in July 2010.
The show deals with social behaviour, etiquette and roles. Writer Joe Bennett sums up why audiences and critics rave about this spectacular piece of circus theatre: "One, it's very funny. Two, it's visually spectacular. People do things in this show the audience just gasp at. But thirdly and vitally to make the show as rich as it can be, people recognise themselves. They recognise the social occasions that they've been to. They recognise the shallow behaviour that they, and others that they know indulge in, and that's where the grunt of the show lies."
120 mins including 20 minute interval.
