The Genealogist UK - Nigel Bayley

Auckland Libraries welcomes a special visiting genealogist from the UK, Nigel Bayley, who will talk about the S&N business and the current range of online services available to family historians.

We are thrilled to have the world class genealogist, Nigel Bayley (pictured right), visit and discuss family history, the beginnings of S&N and the range of leading online family history products available to researchers.

When Nigel couldn’t easily transfer the family history he’d written onto a computer in 1992, he had to purchase expensive software from the United States for the job. Seeing the gap in the market for family historians, Nigel and his wife, Susan, started the S&N Genealogy Supplier business.

Today, S&N – which simply stands for Susan and Nigel – is a company that employs hundreds of staff. The Genealogist.co.uk is an online subscription service that grew out of the need for online genealogy indexes. The website contains BMDs, census, parish records and military records. It has new online features such as mapping, online trees, advanced search systems and data-sharing.
