St Paul St Gallery is pleased to announce the Print Symposium, a forum for the presentation of research and contemporary thinking around print culture in New Zealand.
Print is inextricably woven into our daily lives, appearing in art and design works, books, newspapers, posters and other printed ephemera. The Print Symposium 2011 looks at ways that artists and designers respond to the presence and history of print in New Zealand as well the impacts of new technology on the ways in which we create and relate to printed matter.
Speakers include: Mike Barrett, Pro Design, Neil Emmerson, Otago Polytechnic, Donald Kerr, University of Otago, Monique Jansen, AUT University, Sonya Lacey, Whitecliffe, Steve Lovett, MSVA, Chris McBride, Wellington Media Collective, Xavier Meade, curator of Pūrākau, Gwyn Porter, Clouds Publishing, Stephen Raey, AUT University, Peter Simpson, Holloway Press University of Auckland, Jonty Valentine, AUT University, and Marty Vreede, chair of the Central Print Council of Aotearoa NZ.
The Print Symposium is presented by St Paul St Gallery, AUT University in association with Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland. The Print Symposium will take place on Friday April 15 and Saturday April 16, 2011 across the AUT University and Elam campuses.
