5 Years of Bassweight feat The Others (Dub Police / UK)

2006 was a year when a new sound was emanating from the UK; the sounds of crashing snares and sub low bass of the 140 bpm variety, dubstep was its name and shattering bass bins was its game. In 2006 there were very few into these sounds, but a select few New Zealand producers were hard at work in bedrooms and studios across the country creating their own take on the sound. Bassweight Recordings was the accumulation of some of our earliest producers, releasing New Zealand's first ever dubstep releases. Launching artists like Consequence, Optimus Gryme, P Vans, Helixir, Olie Bassweight, Organikismness, Scott Detail, Sandman and the list goes on. The label and collective has been supporting up and coming dubstep DJs, producers and enthusiasts for years now, not only has Bassweight been responsible for New Zealand's first dubstep releases but they have also been bringing some of the pioneers in the bass heavy business since day dot. Bringing to Wellington and New Zealand artists like DMZ (Mala & Coki) Excision, Datsik, Bar9, Bassnectar, Scuba, DJ Distance, Dieselboy, The Bug + Warrior Queen, Triage, Ill. Gates, Cotti, Antiserum, Gridlok, Temper D, A Sides, Outrage, Digital, Borgore.

To celebrate 5 years of bass business Bassweight has put together a party of epic proportions: 1 night only 1 city only featuring the others, legends in their own right releasing since the early days of the genre. First time hitting Wellington for an exclusive New Zealand performance, supported by some of the dons of the New Zealand scene and some up and comers.
