Each year, organisations and members of the public are invited to submit documents and websites that they think are outstanding examples of plain English — or of gobbledygook.
Independent panels of plain English experts and advocates judge the entries and decide the finalists and winners in each category.
This year’s Plain English Awards will be even more spectacular than last year’s! Hon Christopher Finlayson — Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage; Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations; and Attorney-General — is hosting the 2010 Awards ceremony at the Banquet Hall at Parliament. We’re thrilled that he’s lending his support to plain English in government and business.
