The Palmerston North Sakura Festival at International Pacific College (IPC) is a unique and vibrant event that celebrates the cultural diversity within the Manawatu and IPC.
The festival has a main stage that will feature a number of ethnic dances and performances. We have a large selection of international food stalls, not to mention a Chinese Buffet, muffins, Ice Cream and a Sausage Sizzle that are available in the Dining Hall.
There will be martial arts demonstrations, Arts and Craft stalls, and D Block will be transformed with displays from different countries. C Block will have cultural displays, activities and games from Japan. In A Block you can get dressed up in traditional Japanese clothes and have your photo taken in front of a typical Japanese scene. Also in A Block we will be holding Japanese language lessons.
As this is the 20th Anniversary year of IPC there will also be displays showing how IPC has developed over the last 20 years. In the Library, there will be a photo competition, an Ikebana exhibition and foot massages for a gold coin donation. As well as the performances on the main stage, a 30-minute music concert in the Senior Common Room will be held.
The IPC Drum Team, and Yosakoi dance will be performing at the Festival, both these groups will perform twice throughout the day.
