A former freelance artist and illustrator in the advertising industry in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, Ronald received annual commissions from Rank Zerox to produce 6 paintings per year centered around conservation. Professor John Morton mostly supplied the scientific notes, and the paintings were reproduced as an annual House Calendar. Limited prints and sets were sent to every school in NZ.
Ronald always had a passionate interest in NZ wildlife and natural history, and since 1980 worked exclusively in this field.

He was the author and illustrator of four books on NZ wildlife and natural history and illustrated several books written or edited by Prof. John Morton, Professor Emeritus of the University of Auckland. Before his death he completed an obligation to write and illustrate another book entitled “New Zealand through Time”, encapsulating NZ’s 80 million year history.

His work can be found in wildlife paintings and wall charts for the NZ Geographic and Bird and Forest Magazine and in private collections here and overseas.

Some of his original artwork in acrylic and pencil is on display. Enquiries can be directed to monmo gallery at 09-421-1888 or www.monmogallery.co.nz
