Keith is one of Auckland’s long time and more recognizable potters. Starting out as a graphic artist in the advertising field, Keith turned to full time pottery making in 1974.
His slab pots are valued for Ikebana use, but they also stand on their own as one-off sculptural pieces. His slightly formal forms are relieved by the introduction of torn, cut or impressed clay textures and free glazing techniques.
He has held one man exhibitions in NZ and Australia and in group shows in many other parts of the world. His work is represented in NZ embassies in London, Moscow, Baghdad, Singapore, Brisbane and Samoa. His wall murals hang in prominent buildings throughout NZ and Australia.
Keith opened the Keith Blight Gallery in 1991, closing in 1995 to continue working from home. He is now represented through Dealer Galleries in NZ.
