Come and enjoy a delightful afternoon concert in the unusual venue of historic St Kevin's Arcade in K'Rd. With its large open space and hard surfaces, the acoustic is something quite spectacular. Carissimi's Jephte is a delightful short oratorio which has not been performed in Auckland for at least a decade. With virtuosic writing for soloists and powerful choruses, the music tells the story of Jephte's promise with God to sacrifice the first living creature upon returning from battle if he is victorious in war. Little did he realise it would be his beautiful daughter... Will he fulfil his promise to God and kill his own daughter? Or will he defy God... Find out by coming along!
