Come and celebrate conservation week! Despite a name that means "god of ugly things" the wetapunga or giant weta deserves a bit of affection! They are unique to New Zealand and have been around for millions of years!
Come to Butterfly Creek during conservation week at 10.30am each morning to meet our bug expert Paul and these creepy crawly gods!
Butterfly Creek is rearing hatchlings and will release them back onto Motuora or Tiritiri Matangi in the coming months.
